In partnership with de Stafford School, the not-for-profit leisure trust invested money in the sports centre to modernise the building, making it more energy efficient and significantly improving the facilities to improve the visitor experience.
LST was responsible for major alterations and fit out of a new reception area, café, first floor gym and office space, including all masonry, joinery and M&E services. The works also involved constructing a new-build section to house a first-floor exercise studio, ground floor lobby and entrance foyer. External resurfacing and levelling were required for this part of the project.
The sports centre was in constant use throughout the work, so LST had to put measures in place to ensure the facility could continue to operate safely and minimise disruption for visitors. These included the use of segregation screens and hoardings both internally and externally, which were designed to a high finish reflecting the sports centre’s quality standards.
A temporary access was also created for works taking place at the first-floor level to avoid transporting materials through occupied spaces.
The project was successfully completed in five months ready for the beginning of the school term in September 2018.
“The LST team demonstrated flexibility, expert construction knowledge, skills and expertise throughout this project. Their proactive and enthusiastic approach ensured that any challenges were swiftly overcome and that the refurbishment was delivered on time and to the highest standards.”
