What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy most aspects of my job, but the best part is winning a tender. The estimating team puts in a lot of hard work to get a job over the line, so to win the work is a great reward that makes all our efforts worthwhile.
Can you describe a typical day?
A typical day for me starts at 6am when I hit the gym for an hour as I find this sets me up for the day ahead. When I arrive at the office, I am generally at my desk for most of the day analysing drawings and specifications to produce the ‘Bill of Quantities’ that we use to price most of our tenders.
This includes using measuring software to quantify most elements of the building and putting this information into a spreadsheet to form the bill that we use for pricing tenders.
Why is LST a great place to work?
I can honestly say that I like every member of the team which makes work life very easy. The company looks after us very well providing lunch every day and breakfast on Fridays, which is a nice touch. All in all, I just enjoy my work and the people I work with make that easy.
Have you done anything in your career which you’re particularly proud of?
I was part of a team which won several awards for the design and construction of new build bespoke care homes. To be recognised by external parties for the delivery of care homes to an extremely high standard was a proud moment.
